Project Description
Requirements for the Project
As part of Volkswagen’s development plans, they needed to update the infrastructure of their warehouse which required careful planning to ensure their investment reaped the most benefits.
Volkswagen were seeking the expertise to ensure the right equipment was chosen that would remain useful long-term and would achieve their technological goals.
Volkswagen turned to MGS to design and develop a solution to replace their analog camera hardware that was inadequate for their needs and had its limitations. MGS was tasked with designing the solution, procuring the hardware, and servicing the installation and configuration of the hardware solution.
The infrastructure for Volkswagen’s warehouses based in Sydney and Melbourne needed to be upgraded. Due to the physical size of their warehouses, Volkswagen required a cost-effective solution to manage their proposed deployment of cameras and would hence require compatible switches as support to allow it to operate.
The challenge for MGS & Precision
To marry new hardware integrations or migrate existing infrastructure to a new hardware and networking solution has its unique challenges. MGS and Precision collaborated to overcome the challenges faced in this project, applying the technical and service-based skills to fulfill the requirements that Volkswagen had to support their on-going security measures and interconnect their warehouses.
Execution and implementation
In order to carry out the project and enhance our service portfolio, MGS partnered with Precision Industries ensuring that we bring the technology we delivered to Volkswagen with seamless integration. With assistance from Precision, it allowed MGS to achieve successful staff migration to the new technologies through effective training and configuration catered to their needs.
Why Meraki?
The MV series of Meraki Smart Cameras had all the features that Volkswagen needed that their camera setup at the time did not deliver for them. The benefit of utilising Meraki Smart Cameras and their underlying cloud-managed applications was the ability to monitor their warehouses adequately and having easier integration compared to alternative camera solutions.
Volkswagen were impressed with the feature set that the MV series offered; attracted by the simplicity to operate while still having intelligence and advanced analytics capabilities. Furthermore, with the suitability of the MV series for a large deployment and its secure architecture, Meraki as a solution was the perfect fit for Volkswagen. With the ability to manage in the cloud and the inherent machine learning ability with the MV series, it was predicted to be advantageous for Volkswagen for their long-term plans in how they would want to utilise the technology into the future.
