Project Description

Requirements for the Project

As part of Town of Cambridge’s plans for their township, they needed to update the infrastructure of their server setup, primarily what we needed to recommend for them was a solution that was highly capable and versatile with the upmost level of reliability and security.

The challenge for MGS

Procuring the right technology based on the client’s scope and requirements at a manageable budget is always a pursuit that at times can require negotiation and compromise that is agreed upon. However, in this case MGS saw an opportunity to go above and beyond by recommending a more cost-effective solution for the client that would benefit them in terms of reduced operational and management costs in the long run.

Execution and Implementation

In order to find the best setup solution for their server infrastructure, MGS worked to establish an understanding of exactly what the client wanted in return for their investment.  MGS needed to ensure what we recommended would fulfill the requirements, handle future demands imposed on the technology and would not introduce problems later so that the client has sustained satisfaction with its server solution.

Why HPE as a solution

The HPE product line of server technology including the Gen10 server that was procured for Town of Cambridge, offers a complete solution, i.e. industry-leading performance, serviceability and deployment with innovative design for flexibility and continual security innovation.

Where HPE servers truly excel is in its underlying software for a customisable and user-friendly experience for server management. InfoSight for Servers combines machine learning and predictive analytics with other capabilities such as HPE Integrated Lights Out (iLO) to predict problems and thus prevent them from impacting the organisation.   These features together work to optimise performance, monitored by Active Health System and acts as a ‘flight recorder’ that records data that is then analysed by the server to derive insights and recommend ways to optimise performance. HPE InfoSight for Servers provides a foundational set of capabilities that HPE will augment over time, very much aligned to Town of Cambridge and their need for their server infrastructure to be sustainable to service a growing population.

HPE OneView is another underlying software application that provides efficient workflow automation to accelerate business. This is offered with simple deployment and management in the form of providing a modern dashboard and automating remote phone home support functionality and firmware/patching updates.
